Iowa Futurity Foal

The American Saddlebred Horse
Futurity of Iowa

The intent of the Saddlebred Futurity of Iowa is to promote the ownership and breeding of the American Saddlebred Horse.  Our organization hopes to improve the quality of breeding stock by offering all breeders an opportunity to be rewarded monetarily.

Futurities are held to encourage the breeding and showing of the American Saddlebred horse.  A futurity is a prize program for young horses.  It awards purses made up of entry fees paid over a period of time by participants.  Showing a foal in a futurity enhances it’s value and increases it’s earning potential; the value of the sire and dam may also be enhanced through the success of their progeny shown in the futurity.  Amateurs and juveniles, as well as professionals, have the opportunity to show.  The experience should present the American Saddlebred at his best, providing an opportunity for fun, competition and good sportsmanship.

The prize money is an incentive to participate.  The breeder’s stake is unique in that the stallion owners donate the stallion service to the Iowa Stallion Service Auction.  By purchasing a service through the auction you are eligible to participate in the Iowa Limited Breeder’s Stake.  The bids start at half of the stallion’s current service fee and the proceeds go towards the winning foals.   The mare carrying the foal, must be designated in December prior to the foaling date.

Entries for 2011 are due June 15th.
